“How the 43rd Floor Experience at Istanbul Got Me Like”

Dixon was great, what a performance it was. But the morning evoked an interesting feeling inside me that I wanted to share with you.

When me and my friends went up to the 43rd floor of a residential skyscraper around Maslak to see the sunrise over the city, I did enjoy the sunrise for sure but something more interesting caught my eye as I was walking through the abandoned construction floor…

The site was full of traces of sorrow and despair. You could feel it by looking at the thrown cigarette boxes on the floor and the rebellious quotes about life on the wall… I suddenly sympathized with the workers and imagined how the life of a construction worker would go on for a day.
I then thought about the undocumented deaths and the physical and mental injuries that no one much cares…

Actually, serious incidents at the construction sites occur far too frequently and we hear so little about them.

The construction is among the sectors that has the highest unregistered employment rate!

“The rebellious words of the workers”

Later, I shared my feelings with dad, who is in the industry. He told me facts that further broke my heart.

I made some research about the working conditions of the construction workers in Turkey.

  • According to the statistics of the “Occupational Health and Safety Assembly of Turkey”; in the first two months of 2019 at least 284 deaths were recorded at the construction sites.

  • According to the Preliminary Report of the 2018 Labor Murders Assembly of the Occupational Health and Safety Assembly; In 2018, at least a thousand 923 workers lost their lives.

  • According to data from the International Labor Organization (ILO), more than 3.2 million people die every year in the world due to occupational accidents and occupational diseases.

I then looked over the city.. What a concrete jungle it was! How many stories of sorrow it had under these gorgeous facades!

Though the city had the lights that inspired us in the night, the shining facade disappeared when the sun arrived.

Thank you.

The Tale of The Luggage

It was a cloudy day up in the sky as I was floating with the Pegasus Airplane from Izmir to Istanbul. In 10 seconds after the plane has landed, the sound of the mobile phones could be heard. I had no rush so I began to watch the airport ecosystem through the window. Luckily, I was sitting on the side where the luggages had been carried. Then, this below piece came out.
